I want to restrict some users from connecting with database using tools like Forms Builder, Reports Builder, Sqlplus and allow them to connect using tools Oracle Forms Runtime, Oracle Reports Runtime , Graphics Runtime.

Anybody help me how can i achieve this.

Dear Dilango,

Yes It will work.
Program name for Forms developer is ifbld90.exe.
and that for Report Builder is rwbuilder.exe
and for forms runtime, it is ifweb90.exe
You can restrict these programs also.

Dear Mr. Sasi

If i connect using 'Form builder' or 'report builder' or 'forms runtime' oracle does't return program name on quering 'v$session' instead of program name it is returning NULL.

so how can i block these tools
please help me.

Hi Everyone

Is there any procedure to restrict users from connecting through 'Form builder' or 'report builder' or 'forms runtime'.

oracle returns NULL in program name colum on quering 'v$session' instead of program name when i connect through 'Form builder' or 'report builder' or 'forms runtime'.

so how can i block these tools

please help me.

If you don't want developers to connect to a production database tell them that if you find them doing it, you will fire them.

It works here.
