Hi,

If I correctly understand your question, you need to know which trigger to use for Validating Item Change, have a look at the following:

1- When-Validate-Item Trigger
2- Post-Change Trigger

See which one meets your requirement best. Below is some info on each:

http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/forms/10g/state?navSetId=_&navId=3&vtTopicFile=f1_help/trigsp_z/postchan.html&v tTopicId=

http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/forms/10g/state?navSetId=_&navId=3&vtTopicFile=f1_help/trigsp_z/whenveit.html&v tTopicId=

Hope this helps,
Baz

Please note the following:
Usage Notes
The Post-Change trigger is included only for compatibility with previous versions of Oracle Forms. Its use is not recommended in new applications.
