Hi,
I have the following parameters set in init<sid>.ora
os_authent_prefix = ops$
remote_os_authent = false
This means that OS authentication is not allowed, please correct me if I am wrong.
But from the UNIX user "oracle" I could execute like
How is this possible?
Thanks.

Shahnazurs,
Oracle offers you a number of authentication mechanisms suitable for a variety of situations. You need to understand them in order to arrive on a suitable authentication scheme for you installation. DBA guide of your platform & oracle version gives a detailed explanation on various authentication options. Given below please find some pointers that may be of help in clearing ambiguities pertaining to OS authentication.
