Make sure that the 'tnsnames.ora' used by Forms 6i has the same entry for the 10g database as the 'tnsnames.ora' used by Forms 10g.

they are the same,,,
am not sure that it has to do with the problem but at first we had an instance with a specific character-set that didnt support arabic language and we could connect to it using dev6i without even batch18 , but when we added another instance with ar8mswin1256 character-set we faced this problem...

thanks alot,
Lama

I can't think of the keywords I need to use to search for an answer I think I saw recently but I think you need to have roughly the same language environment on your Development PC and as in the database. I think you need to search and review ALL the threads associated with 'arab' that have been raised in the past year. Sorry, I can't be anymore helpful.

Maybe I can be more helpful. Start your searching by using 'ar8mswin1256' against all forums. There are quite few threads concerning 'ar8mswin1256'. Eg, http://www.orafaq.com/forum/m/285482/67467/?srch=ar8mswin1256#msg_285482

Have you read the threads on this site concerning 'AL32UTF8'? There are quite a few on 'characterset mismatches'.
