Dear Experts,

i can't complete installation Jinit automatically in client machine.

when i type this address from any client machine:

http://bsti:8889/forms90/f90servlet

--Here Bsti is the server name.

It gets automatically connection with server named "Bsti" and start installing jinit. Out of 10 client machine i succiced in 8 computers but in 2 i didn't . can you tell me for which reason or for which security reason it does not let to complete installation ? i would like to mention here, all client machine operating system and hardware configuration same.

it gets connect easily and prepare to install but can't forward to complete installation, in the status bar it shows done but in fact its not completed.

Finding no way i copied Jinit folder from the Server and tried to install in the Client machine, here also the same thing.......can't forward to complete installation.

Can any one help me please, its very urgent

Did you make sure that all client users were "administrators" while installing JInit? As far as I can tell, users logged as "ordinary users" will not be able to complete the task.

Deare Littlefoot,

i am sure i logged in as Administrator. i noticed each client machine there is a single user and that is Administrator.

Thanks for your early response.

Do they have enough available disk space?

I don't know whether my next suggestion is relevant to the JInit install but to run Oracle Forms you need to have the 'TEMP' and 'TMP' environment variables defined. You may wish to check to see if these are defined on your machines. (They must point to an area to which the user has write access and there is some free disk space.)

Dear Mr. David,

Thank you very much for your response.

I checked disk space.....its ok. i want to know, is there any security in the browser or windows level that does not allow JInitiator to complete downloading and installation?

i tried also manually copying Jinit folder from server in the same client machine here the same problem......its shows done after few step completing.

I succeded 10 computers out of 8. i am surprised why not in 2 computers as all configuration and environment in the client machines are same. From client machine in the browser as i type the address (http://bsti:8889/forms90/f90servlet) gets connection easily and start downloading JInit from server....after completing few setps it stopped , in the status bar it shows done but infact not completed downloading and installation.

Mr. David its very essential. Its a very big project developed by Oracle Database 10g,Application Server 10g and Developer 10g.

i will be highly grateful to you, if you please give a solution to me in this regard,

Thank you.

If they are completely new machines maybe your need to reinstall the operating system? (This is what our help desk tells us when a new machine doesn't work - for any reason.)

Do you 'policies' defined at your installation?

Are you installing the software under the user's ID or as administrator?

Dear Mr. David,

Thank you for yoru reply and response. If i install it in the new computer it will work. i just wanna know why it happens?

i guess there might be few security system (Windows firewall/Anti Virus)or any other setting or configuration that does not allow to install Jinitiator in the client machine.

The computer that is not installing (Jinitiator), not fresh computer, i mean operating system was installed beforehand.
i am sorry to tell you the wrong information about this 2 unsuccessfull computers. but i checked out while trying to install Jinitiator ( in 2 machines) the User was "Administrator"

i checked out the internet explorer setting, i could not find anything that prevent installing Jinitiator ( as my knowledge concern)

i didn't define any policies to install this Jinitiator.
is it necessary , if then how pls?

Thank you,

There is no policy that I know off that permits the installation of JInitiator specifically, but there are certainly policy setting that don't permit the installation of anything including JInitiator and I thought that that may have been your problem.
