A user has 4 Oracle 8i instances/databases and wants to upgrade to 11g RAC running on Redhat Linux. Question is: would 10g RAC be a better choice for their production system? Current architecture is: RAC1-4 each on a separate DL580G4 w/8G RAM and 4x Dual-Core 3.40Ghz CPU. There will also be separate Windows 2003 Std Ed. Servers for the front-end.
I'm thinking 10g would be a better choice than 11g for two reasons: (1) upgrade path unsupported/non-existent; (2) 10g offers greater stability. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Mike
