hi!
I am installing oracle 9ir2 on rhel ws 4.
I have applied the os patch 4198954
and created the user oracle and group dba
and a mount point /oracle
then I, have given the ownership to oracle user on mount point oracle and also 777 to the mount point oracle.
When the oui is invoked I, gave the destination as /oracle
then after asking for the type of database it gives me this error.
you do not have sufficient privileges to write to the specified path . in component database configuration assitant 9.2.0.1 . installation cannot continue for this component.
What can be the problem

Forgive the obvious question, but is the process actually running as user "oracle" when OUI is invoked?
use CUT & PASTE to allow us to see for ourselves EXACTLY what you are doing.
