Hi,

I am new to forms10g.I request help for the installation of Forms10g development setup.

1.I am using windows XP
2.Already Oracle10g Database is running in my PC
3.Forms 10g Developer Suite is downloaded from Oracle website and now its ready to install.

Clarifications:

1.Can I have Both Oracle10g Database and Forms10g on the same Machine?

2.Should I install Oracle10g Application Server also in my machine to run and se my Forms?

3.What are the prerequisites I need to do before/after the installation of Forms10g? Something like Registry update(REGEDIT),Installation path Naming convention,TNSNAMES.ORA changes etc...

4.What is J2EE/OC4J in Forms10g? Should I do anything special to install this? How this is used during the development of Forms?

Request your help please

1. Yes, you can run both. Just make sure they go into different 'Oracle Homes'.

2. No, the Developer Suite comes with its own Developer Server (OC4J).

3. If your tnsnames.ora already exists from the database installation you may like to consider using the environment variable 'tns_admin' to define that copy of the 'tnsnames.ora' as the file to be used by all Oracle products on your PC.

4. OC4J is needed for you to run your Forms. Install the Developer Suite and read the installation guide (you did download the documentation didn't you?) to determine what other things you need to do.

My name is 'David'. It is the name that I place at the end of all of my posts.

In the environment variable area of your windows environment you need to have specified, via 'tmp' and 'temp', a directory to which you have write access otherwise the forms will not run. In this environment facility you may also create the environment variable 'tns_admin'. For information on 'environment' press F1 and search on 'environment'.
