Hi all

Currently Oracle 8.1.7.4 is running on IBM Mainframe.W need to migrate it to Oracle 10g Release2 on IBM AIX server.

Current datbabase size is 35 GB.What should be the disk space on the new database so that export and import will be successful without any issue.

Also i heard that when doing export and import the size on the target database should be double the size of the current datbaase for successful exp/imp.Is that true?

It is not true.

It wanted to mean you are not performing network level export/import and in which machine export file is located in that machine you are performing import operation. So need more space for dump file as well as data imported in the tablespaces.

But what would be the size for 35GB database on target database?
Depands on your export mode.

Now you trying to upgrade your database then better is create new database on target(10g) and just export schema level from source db(8i) and import schema level target db(10g).

I better suggest you to use Transport_Tablespaces feature in this case. No need to worry about space.
