Hi experts,
Suddently my test server harddisk got infected virus.i couldn't able to recover that data.But i have got my oracle database folder.Now what is the way to get my database everything. It is contains 4 gb of data. Any Experts could you help on this scenario....

What are the file you have? data files? control files? redo logs? archived logs? init files? spfile? password files? Oracle binaries?...

OS:Windows 2003 server R2

Ver:10gR2

I have whole oracle folder safely.

including data files,control files,redo logs, archived logs, init files, spfile, password files, Oracle binaries....

As you have everything. So

set ORACLE_SID=your database name
then try startup

Hi dear,
I said harddisk failure.i have only oracle folder including data files,control files,redo logs, archived logs, init files, spfile, password files, Oracle binaries....

Your oracle services running or not???

Try, from command prompt,

set ORACLE_SID=<your oracle sid>

Hi dear,
My test server harddisk got virus infected and i can not open also.But two days before i have copied oracle folder to another disk. right now i have oracle folder only. i am using oracle 10gr2 under windows 2003 server R2.In this case what is the way to get the database back.Give some valuable ideas,sir....

Install oracle services in windows.Then start the services

(for example start OracleServiceORCL). Now copy the datafiles archivelog files controlfiles init files, spfiles in the place that it was in previous.

Then set environemntal variable ORACLE_SID

Now from SQL*PLUS use startup.

Hi dear,
thanks for your reply.Right now i don't have any test database.i have to install 10gr2 then i have to create database.
then i have to copy the database to there!! then i have to start the database. then it will work fine?????

Better reinstall Oracle (in the same place). Remove ORACLE key in registry (HKLM\Software). Make an export of it before (if you don't lose your registry).
Then use ORADIM to recreate the instance service.
Then just use SQL*Plus and startup.

Before make a copy of your Oracle directory.

Hi Michel,
Thanks for your reply.I have to reinstall oracle.But i don't've registry backup.Just i created same database name.i copied that files to new location.I am trying now.

Don't create a new database this will be useless as you can't plug your files on this new one.
Just create the service as I said.

Name same so you can't plug in. It would have a worth if you create a database with different name. In that case you will have 2 databases(plug previous one+new one).

If you already have created with same name from drop it.

As Michel said, do..
