If I upgrade my DB from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.3 - will that affect the RMAN backup strategy we have as the catalog and backups will have been taken with a 10.2.0.2 RMAN version.

Will I have to reset my RMAN scripts to cope with the new version?

You just have to follow what is said in the readme file you got with the patchset.
