Hi,
We have a problem with oracle 9i sql loader. We are trying to load the data on oracle 10g client using oracle 9i sql loader. Once in a month the sql loader fails to insert the data into the tables. Rest of the time it works fine and inserts the data into appropriate tables. While failing, it says that it has successfully loaded the data, but when you actually go there, nothing is in the table. Log file or bad file doesn't say anything. Can anyone tell me what's happening?

Use SQL*Loader of the same version of the RDBMS.
There is no reason to not do so.

Once in a month the sql loader fails to insert the data into the tables.

Can you identify that event? Is it always on the same day of the month? Do you use a WHEN clause in the control file? Does it use a date value?

I don't think it worth spending trying to solve something that is surely not supported when the solution is so simple than use the correct version.

I simply can't understand why someone tries to load with the wrong tool when the correct one is there.
There are people really searching troubles.

(One of the Murphy's law: whatever you try to make things work, there is always a hole that people will find to do it in the wrong way.)

Michel
