Hello Everyone,

I'm currently working on an application with Oracle forms4i(Character based) and Oracle 8i

as the Database. We are planning to migrate the application to forms 9i and Oracle 9i Database.

Please let me know if there are any document which specifies the steps to do the same.

Is it advisable to migrate to 6i and then to 9i?

The application which needs to be migrated also involves Shell scripting and HP ANSIC.

Will there be any changes in these as well?

Thanks in advance

Sathya

Please search this forum for 'conversion' and 'convert' and 'migate' and 'migration'. There are a few entries on this topic. Also search the Oracle Forms website for conversion/migration. Yes, you need to go to 6i before going to 9i. Why not go all the way to 10g?

Your Shell scripts will probably have to be modified. But that depends of what they are currently doing. All conversions/migrations require EVERY aspect of the existing hardware and software to be reviewed and taken over to the new environment. Remember, you are going from a client/server environment to a 3 tier environment.
