I have just started taking Oracle DBA classes and my instructor gave me a couple of cds to load Windows 2000 professional and Oracle-Ora8ihome on my computer at home. I tried to log in as "scott" and as "svrmgrl" but I keep getting a TNS 12560 adapter error. Please help.

SIR,

IT IS A VER EASY PROBLEM.DO ONE THING.

RIGHT THE MYCOMPUTER--PROPERTIES--ADVANCED--ENVIRONMENTS--
HERE YOU CREATE ONE NEW VARIABLE
VARIABLE NAME : ORACLE_SID

VALUE : YOUR ORACLE SID NAME

THEN SET THAT ONE AND APPLY IT .

THEN GO TO THE ORACLE SQL PLUS.IT WILL CONNECT TO THE ORACLE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM.

IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEM ,THEN SEND YOUR SQLET.ORA AND TNSNAMES.ORA FILE TO ME.IT IS IN ORACLE_PATHNETWORKADMIN DIRECTORY.

BYE AND TAKE CARE
