Here is a question taken straight from the Couchman text CD. I cant understand why the correct answer is given. I understand the meanings of pctfree / pctused, but I don't know which one is the least desirable:
"Which of the following choices identifies block space utilization settings that are never appropriate under any circumstances:
A: pctfree 5, pctused 90
B: pctfree 20, pctused 70
C: pctfree 15, pctused 80
D: pctfree 10, pctused 40
The correct answer is C. Why ? (I chose B)
Thanks..........

For Michel Cadot.....
and also
A: 90 + 5 = 95 <100
B: 70 + 20 = 90 <100
D: 40 + 10 = 50 <100
.....
isn't it??? Could you explain this in detail...i knew the fact that PCTFREE+PCTUSED < 100 but according to this all the answers are correct...

Heres something from the docs..."The smaller the difference between 100 and the sum of PCTFREE and PCTUSED (as in PCTUSED of 75, PCTFREE of 20), the more efficient space usage is, at some performance cost." Now, i cant see y option C would be the most inappropriate under any circumstances...!!!

Hmmm....how about someone telling me the advantage of keeping the PCTUSED set to a low value..(eg: 40)... Wdnt setting a high value be a better option as the inserts are done more frequently...(ie; less than the PCTUSED..)
