What software should i buy if want to develop a web site using Oracle Forms and Reports (Merged) [message #228016]

I just saw a web site which is created using Oracle forms and reports and want to build a similar site. I will have Oracle 9i (Enterprise version) available soon. What else i need to buy to build a web site with Oracle Forms and Reports?

It depends on what it should look like, for what audience it is made.

I want to build a web site using Oracle forms and reports, and have the following questions:

1) What software do i need? Oracle Developer Suite or Oracle forms and Reports? ( I have Oracle Enterprise 9i)

2) What web server does that site use?

I am totally new to Oracle Forms and don't know if i am asking the correct questions.

Please continue in this thread and don't start a new thread regarding the same topic.

I am afraid you will be in for a disappointment if you think you can create a website using Forms & Reports if you are totally new to these tools.
These are NOT your average MS-Office click-click-finish tools.
Why is it you explicitly want to use these tools? Just because you saw this one site?

I have good experience in programming(Java, VB, ColdFusion) and database(Oracle, SQL server), and think it should be easy to lean how to use Oracle Forms. In fact, i want to know the benefits of using Oracle Forms to build a web site.

BTW, I am going to use that site to do data entry and reporting.

Jennifer,

The guys are just trying to inform you that Oracle Forms is not a trivial application. If used as it was designed then it can produce useful, simple application easily. It you try to force it into a thinking that is out of alignment to how it should be used then it is a 'bitch'.
