Hello everyone,

I am totally new to oracle so im hoping to learn the best i can! How can i copy the EXACT whole contents of one oracle server to another. I do not want to ever go through that grueling install process ever again. Can i use Norton Ghost? If so, what options do i have to use with Norton Ghost to make sure all data copies correctly and i have a fully functional backup machine??

HI,
You can take cold backup and transfer to new server.
1.Cold backup
2.Copy all *.dbf,*.log,*.ctl files and transfer to new server.
3.On new server create oracle services (oradim)
4.Restore all copy files.
5.Through netca create LISTENER.ORA,TNSNAMES.ORA,SQLNET.ORA\

or you can use RMAN DUPLICATE option.

regards
Taj
