Dear friends,
My doubt ins't how to use a blob field but is how it's work.
A database file is a binary data. Everey files in a computer is a compiled binary data. Ins't? When i say binary data, i want to say that is a large "string" (sorry for the analogy) of sequences and composes of 0 and 1.
If i'm right, what is the method used by the Oracle to save a file in a blob field? It's write in a sequence of 0 and 1 (binary), it's in hexa? it's in ascii?
I know the differences between LOBs (BLOB and CLOB) but i can't understand one think. If we get a file in binary sequence (0 and 1) it will be like a uncompiled file. The size of the binary string in this case is bigger that the size of an image, for example.
Have the oracle a native compression method for BLOB field or it's not stored as binary string?
