This question stumps me and I haven't seen a good answer in the Oracle docs.
Your database is in archivelog mode.
What 4 processes are involved in a log switch?
o Archiver Process
o Database Writer
o Redo Log Writer
o SMON
o PMON
o CKPT
Obviously, checkpoint, archiver, and redo log writer.
What's the 4th, though? Database Writer flushes the buffer cache to disk but is it really involved in the log switch?
Do SMON and PMON do anything during a log switch?
