Discoverer Version
Version 4.1.37.00.0
End User Layer dce.dll 4.1.37.00.0
End User Layer 4.1.11.0.0.0
Issue
Users receive "Database Error - ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object" message when they try to schedule a report.
The database owner can schedule reports.
Oracle recommend patching up to version 4.1.48.08 but this sounds like a permissions problem to me. The "standard" user has been granted administrator privileges, but the error still appears.
Any ideas, folks?
Regards,
Noel

Noel,
I assume you followed all steps documented for the setup op scheduling?
If so, I'm puzzled about this and can't find an explanation. I've searched for bugs in 4.1.37 (so, a reason for the recommended upgrade), but it seems like you're the first and only one to receive this error in Discoverer
So, I'm afraid I can't help you.
One general observation: version 4 has been desupported quite a while ago now, so you might want to upgrade to 10g in order to get the full support you're entitled to. If you don't want to do that, I would too recommend to upgrade to 4.1.48. Since that's the last production release of 4i and, although there is no bug fixing on this version anymore, at least you'll work with the most stable release in the 4i range. The upgrade from 37 to 48 is a minor one. (please test it and don't throw it on to production just because I told you so )
Regards,
Sabine

Sabine,
Yup, it has me bamboozled too! Oracle recommend upgrading to 48 as well, but (being the lazy so-and-so that I am) I was hoping to avoid that.
I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and patch it up to 48 on the test system.
Thanks for your help, though. Much appreciated.
Regards,
Noel
