Hi all,

I just want some clarification regarding the table partitioning in oracle8i/9i. We have the feature of partitioning the table. Do we need any oracle license to use it or else we can use it straight away..Ours is in Enterprise Edition.

tx for the reply...but some of our friends online are telling that we need a license....which is true...i just cant come to conclusion....

That is absolutely incorrect.

@OP...you should check Options and search for Partitioning. Although the documentation is for 10g, it still pertains to 8i/9i. Just because Partitioning can be installed does NOT mean you are licensed to use it.

That's correct, it's an OPTION which in Oracle speak means a pay for item. Whether the OP needs partitioning is immaterial, BUT if he decides to use the partitioning option, then he better have a license for it.
