Hi,

I am using oracle 10g.
I have generated a sql trace file. when i type

tkprof tracefilename.trc outputfile.... in command prompt
then I am getting " could not open tracefile name.trc"
error.

Please help me out to resolve this error

Unix or DOS? Are you in the right directory? Do a directory listing and post the output.

ded_lgwr_2176.trc looks like a LGWR trace file. TKProf can only analyze SQL Trace files.

ded_lgwr_2176.trc looks like a LGWR trace file. TKProf can only analyze SQL Trace files.

...will obviously not work, you are in the wrong directory. Try:

C:
cd C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\admin\DED\bdump
tkprof ded_lgwr_2176.trc e:\trace.txt

I know frank look OP mistake his not give complete path.
on my previous post i was just did wrong step to show mistake.
E:\>tkprof ded_lgwr_2176.trc e:\trace.txt
[I]could not open trace file ded_lgwr_2176.trc[/I]
after that i give complete path name where trace file exists.
E:\>tkprof C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\admin\DED\bdump\ded_lgwr_2176.trc e:\trace.t
xt
