We are going to upgrade one of our database to 9i/10g very soon. But our users are currently connecting using 8.0.5 clinet to Oracle 8i database. We are thinking of impact oracle 8.x client on user machines, if we upgrade the 8i database to 9i/10g. Before upgrading i would like to know if it's possible.

Aslo is there any techinical document from Oracle corp for Oracle client/Server connectivity/compatiability information.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks

I think 8.0.5 client can connect to 9.x but it's never been certified as being able to. As far as I know 8.0.5 will not connect to 10g. See metalink Note:207303.1
