Hi,
i have installed 1og on a box,where i have alreaedy 8i running.And i am using 8i listener for both 8i and 1og
I can connect to 8i database,but
when i try to connec to 10g i get error "Connecting...ORA-12500: TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process"
by default LSNRCTL is using 8i listener.i donot knwo how to change this default settings to take 10g listener,so that i can add 8i database entry there.
Please advice

i copied 8i listener to 10g $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin .
cd to $ORACLE_HOME
issued lsnrctl
lsnrctl>stop
lsnrctl>start.
again i see only one service running.i can connec to 8i but not to 10g,gives same error "ORA-12500: TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process".
i think it is again using 8i listener.

>>Once you issue LSNRCTL, it should tell you what version of the listener control utility you are using. To make sure, ensure all the listeners are stopped
ebrian, that tip was really helpful !!!
now it works.i made all env poinging to 10g DB (using .oraenv)
and moved 8i listener to 10g location.
now it works perfectly.
