I run the following imp command from an NT machine running Oracle 7.3.4 client:

imp73 userid=system/manager@btn.world full=y ignore=y file=F:\ORADBA\CIS\exp\cis.dmp log=F:\ORADBA\CIS\exp\cis.log

I get the following error:

Connected to: Oracle8i Release 8.1.7.4.1 - Production
JServer Release 8.1.7.4.1 - Production

IMP-00003: ORACLE error 942 encountered
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
IMP-00023: Import views not installed, please notify your DBA
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

I look around and found that I needed to run catexp.sql as the SYS user on the target database, which I did successfully. The error still occurs.
This target database can be easily recreated, so if I have to blow it away, then so be it.
However, has anyone seen this behavior before?

Thanks.

You should use the 8.1.7.4 import utility to import the dmp file.
