Hi

We are creating new database in 10gr2. Regarding the backup strategy We are planning to have Daily export and Weekly cold backup.

Can any one provide us the model script for cold backup to schedule in crontab.

DB: 10gR2
OS : Sunsolaris 5.8
DB size : 25 GB

You are decide to "daily export" export is not a valid bkp.
or cold bkp once a week is ok but ur database is how much downtime. it is OLTP OR DSS type database.

there are two bkp method
1.RMAN
2.User Managed Bkp.

I just need a formal script for scheduling cold backup in crontab.

Without thoroughly tested restore procedures, any "backup" is a waste of electrons & magnetic flux.
