We have an application which is posting the wrong timestamp for database inserts. We are running 9.2.0.7 RAC on AIX 5.2
If I log into the database using sqlplus from my window machine I get the following timestamp which is 6 hours ahead (GMT)
alter session set nls_date_format = 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS';
SQL> select sysdate from dual;
SYSDATE
--------------------
29-OCT-2006 11:09:29
From the unix prompt I get the correct time
[143] server1:/home/oracle $ date
Sun Oct 29 05:09:53 CST 2006
When I use sqlplus from the unix prompt I get the correct time as well
SQL> select sysdate from dual;
SYSDATE
-------------------
2006-10-29 05:10:33
The dbtimezone seems to be set correctly
SQL> SELECT DBTIMEZONE FROM DUAL;
DBTIME
------
-06:00
Even when I set the dbtimezone to -12:0 or +6:0 it doesn't seem to have any affect on the timestamp.
I'm not sure why I would get the wrong timestamp using sqlplus from my work station and the correct time when I use sqlplus from the unix prompt? and how do I correct this?

It would seem that the server is innocent, right ,-)
Check Your client!
Where in the world does it think it is?
Are there any login.sql in play or similar etc.?
