All,

I have been asked by a project manager whether it is possible to test-run RAC on a single server. I stated no but he has asked me for a categorical answer. I still think that you cannot as there is no interconnect etc etc.

Can you please confirm for me.

For fun and learning, yes. You can. Idea is to make use of Virtual Environments like VMWware. Just google. It is been widely documented.
Not for real time production use.

Ken, ask for one private IP (Interconnect), one Public IP and one extra IP on a box (for VIP) and try setting it up. I feel you should be able to install CRS on the single box.

I think if you have good terms with your sys admin. (i say so, as it would need a lot of patience) you should definitely give it a shot.
