hi guy,s

i am ramkrishna , i hv handle the oracle10g in linux,
when i connect the database through RMAN i.e.

rman target xyz/cfr90ass1 it is not proper way ,
this way i connect the database but error is occured is
rman target xyz/cfr90@s1
how can connect the database pls help me

i donot understand what you are talking about.

If the target database is local and you have set the ORACLE_SID, this would work.
>>rman target xyz/cfr90@s1
here you are using a tnsentry S1.
Target database may be local or remote.But you are trying to reach it through the tnsservice S1.
Make sure you have proper entries in tnsnames.ora.

thanks

ok i hv explain step by stp

i hv handle cluster database S ans in S two database s1 & s2 , i hv connect trough rman s1

means
rman target S/cd9u9@s1

this command use an error meeans it is not connected to target database
then i hv use following cmd

rman target S/cd9u9ass1

this cmd is @ replace by as run but i confuse it is connected or not

pls help me

Check tnsnames.ora and make sure its pointing to right instance and right host entry.
