Hi All,

My database is in NOARCHIVELOG mode. I have a full database cold backup. I try to restore and recover a tablespace. The restoring took 3 hours. when I recover that tablespace I recieve the following errors:

Starting recover at Aug 09 2006 08:39:10
using channel ORA_DISK_1

starting media recovery

unable to find archive log
archive log thread=1 sequence=27059
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-03002: failure of recover command at 08/09/2006 08:39:12
RMAN-06054: media recovery requesting unknown log: thread 1 seq 27059 lowscn 347080182

I don't have archive log files (NOARCHIVELOG mode)

Can anyone let me know what are my options to recover this tablespace?

I can think off TSPITR. If I do TSPITR, and update data on this tablespace later, will the SCN brought up to the current SCN?

As you mentioned, you'll have perform TSPITR (Planning for RMAN TSPITR). Since you are in NOARCHIVELOG mode, if the SCN has advanced too far within the redo logs, then you'll have to restore back to the point in time when the cold backup was taken.

I was told by Oracle tar my database has to turn archived mode on in order to use TSPITR. (Can anyone confirm?) If this is true, I have to restore my full db from a cold backup. Sad

What was wrong with the tablespace?

For this process, you could enable archiving on the database just prior to performing TSPITR and then turn archviing off after the process.
