if i have two instances running parallely on the same box, how do i configure dedicated listeners to it?

i tried using netca and modifying listener.ora as per the first listener, but still i'm unable to get it to work.

appreciate if somebody can clarify how it is done.

WHY?
I have a system with 7 instances & a single listener.
What business purpose requires more than 1 listener?
