Hi,
Correct me if I am wrong!!
Drop Shipment is the business process in which the customer orders are satisfied by our suppliers.
In this case , we take the order from an Operating unit,
Raise PO to supplier from the same operating unit
and the supplier supplies to the customer.
And moreover during the running of the concurrent program
"AutoCreate DropShip Requisitions", one of the parameter is Organization Code
So I feel 11i does not support this feature of multiple operating unit Drop shipment.
If anyone can provide more insight into this topic , it would be good.
Regards
Vinod

Hai,
Release 11.5.10 does support Drop shipment and while creating a sales order we select the SOURCE as EXTERNAL and book it.Later we run workflow background process and there will be a requistion created automatically.
We need to autocreate a PO using this requisition and inturn make a dummy receipt to our organization as the supplier will deliver the materials directly to client. Finally our organization will the receive the payment from the customer also ending up the order paying to the supplier as well.

Hi apache,
Thanks for you input. The question is
phanimekala wrote on Wed, 26 July 2006 02:37 | Is dropshipment across operating unit supported in 11i?
|
Which means
1) Create sales order from an operating unit
2) Create PO from another operating unit
Please provide your input regarding 11.5.10

Hi Vinod,
Drop shipment is dealt only with one operating unit and the same operating unit pays for the supplier and receives the payment from the customer as well.

Hi apache,
Exactly!!
But in real business world , there are scenarios where drop shipment has to be dealt with multiple Operating unit.
Simple case
Assume the supplier in your operating unit does not have the stock , and maybe the supplier in another operating unit is willing to deliver.
What do we do in this case ?
I think that's the place where B2B comes into the picture.
I hope you agree with me

Hi Ananth,
Thanks for your input. I do share the same view.
Just for info
"All Drop Ship items must be defined in the organization entered in the profile option OE: Item Validation Organization and in the Receiving Organization"
