Hi,
my doubt will be sounding stupid,
but please clarify my doubt.
When we install oracle in a server, at the time of installation itself as a part of installtion, it ask for new sid name and all other specification for creating a new database in the server.
My doubt is can we just install the oracle s/w alone and latter can create a database? ( manually by script?)
(my o/s 2000server and 9i)
In Unix server also can we install oracle s/w first then later can create db by db-creating scripts?
Thanks,
Raja

During installation, under installaion type
Select 'Oracle software only'
Looks like you are selecting the option to install software and create a database .
Read teh installtion types (description) carefully .
