Hi friends ,
why when i enter my pass word and user name in oracle 9i ,
it does not know me and even during the installation i skip the choosing pass word as the documents says , but still it says u need ot enter pass word
and what is "host string" , eg when open the oracle sql*plus
any help appreciated.

thank you for the answer
but I could not figure out
if it is sid , ok mine is orcl
but how is it asking about user name and password
only during the inslation , in about database i entered pass word for sys and system
it is just driving me crazy .
where is "tnsnames.ora"

Tnsnames.org is located at

In this file u can check for the Host name, Sid and also the database name and the instance if u have created any

Hi there,
thank u for the answer.
but I never ever could find such a thing
(i did it thru search )
basicly I do not have net80 in my oracle home but i do have admin folder.
thnk again
by the way , during the installation it says put db on another disk , but i have only one disk on my pc. for better performace.
mine , some part goes where i want to but some files go into the program files
