Please anyone of you help me
i checked the listner status as you instructed.
but i only got the following message
at the orant>
the name specified is not recognized as internal or external command ...........

how can proceed ?
please it is urgent

What is your OS? Is it NT!
I think your Oracle is not installed!
I suggest you reinstall oracle and then try.
Make sure you log in as the same user as when installing Oracle.

at ORANT>lsnrctl status
if it does not show reply of your satisfaction
find the file listener.ora and correct it. Most of the chances are that your listner file is missing. If it is missing restore it from any backup or create new one. If contents are needed please revert to me writing your problem in detail my address is aswal77@rediffmail.com
