"a listener selects an instance in the following order: 1) least loaded node, and 2) least loaded instance"
what does 'node' here mean ??
is it a server ?
and isnt it that 1 node can have only 1 instance for that database ?

Yes, it is a server in the cluster.

Some platforms allow you to run multiple RAC instances on a single node. For example, zOS mainframes.
