Senior Member

I've a file which is of size 25GB,but the free space in that
mount point is 11GB,can i compress that file without any problem,
by just having free space of 11GB?The platform is AIX.

The answer is totally dependent upon the contents of the raw file.
Why don't you just try it & answer your own question without bothering us?

Why is it a "bad answer"?
Some files do not compress at all.
Some files compress down to 10% or less the original size.
So it depends upon actual raw data file.
