Is it possible to import oracle 8i dmp to oracle 7 . If yes please give the method for import .

possible if you create a node of oracle 8
and import from that node
this way data of 8 can be imported to 7

I have no idea what that answer means, but you will need to export from the v8 database with the v7 export utility. You would import that dump file into the v7 database with the v7 import utility.

you are right and you can do in this way
but i told that if you connect oracle 7 database from another machine on which oracle 8 installed as a client of oracle 7 and then import from that oracle 8 machine
in this way you can import database of oracle 8 in to oracle 7
