Hi,

I have a dump taken from oracle 9i in windows environment.

I was able to import in 9i successfully.

When I tried to import in oracle 10g it gives an error

imp-00002 : failed to open testdb.dmp for read

Please help me in this regard.

Posting the same question on every forum will not fetch you the result faster. Please be patient.

And post the export and import command that you used.

Is your .dmp file is situated at the same location from where you are running your import command?

Looks like a user error to me. Is file testdb.dmp readable? Did you specify the correct directory path to it?

This is what Oracle says about it:
Quote:

IMP-00002 failed to open string for read

Cause: Import failed to open the export file for reading. This message is usually followed by a device message from the operating system.

Action: Take appropriate action to restore the device.

Excuse me?!?

I can only guess who you are talking to, but - as far as I can tell - YOUR response isn't helpful at all. We still don't know actual EXP and IMP commands, whether you specified correct path to the .DMP file or any other useful information.

All we know is that you have a problem. Fine. Don't disturb other forum members with this fact.

@Littlefoot

I think the OP was pointing me.

@rafi aamiri

If you can't post the complete information then how can you expect the help from others.

Well, that's what I thought too (but one can never tell unless it's explicitly written). I just hope that OP didn't disturb you too much Wink
