Hii every body,

Can you please tell me how to make the system smart?
For example,
101 means courses that relate to Computer Science Department
102 means courses that relate to Computer Engineering Department

You want to enter this course number 0101110.

But, While you are starting to enter the number in Field name, for example (Course ID), and when you reached to 0101
(you didn't continue writing the number) the system should show all courses that relates to computer science in a list..

Can any body tell me how to make it please?

i think better u place the listbox instead of textbox. so that u have no need to enter course id.

A LOV would be my choice. It has built-in filtering. If you want a true autocomplete feature you need a Javabean or a OCX/ActiveX control.

A listbox would indeed also work.

What if I have hundred of Courses can I group them by Department in order to gain the result I want?

Actually, this is the first time for me to use developer2000 and I don't Know how to use all its tools (including Lov and JavaBean or ActiveX control), But I will try to do it.. Razz

A LOV is Forms built in component. First you define a record group. This is the query you want to use or you define fixed values. Create a LOV using this record group. You define what fields invoke the LOV and what items receive the selected column values. Forms has a LOV wizard. Hitting F1 in Forms builder might help out too. Look at contents. Choose "Designing Forms"->"List of Values"
