language problem [message #165755]

hii all

i had installed oracle 9.2

and i imported a backup on my past data to my new database

and after that i saw that when display any thing was in arabic it gives me "????????"

so if in sql i made this query

SELECT DESCA FROM GITXXXXXX
WHERE CODE ='AA12';

the result will be

???????????

although that my past database can see that arabic description and can display it

n.b: my past DB was oracle 8.1.7

what is your database charset and nls_lang

one place where you can see dbcharset is in alert log file and query v$parameter for nls_language

NLS language name

and from where i can get my "dbcharset"?????
