Hi,

Oracle signals a ORA-27062 if after waiting a reasonable amount of time the Operating System is not completing async I/O requests.

Documentation suggests a workaround to set DISK_ASYNCH_IO to false and DBWR_IO_SLAVES to a value other than its default of zero in order to simulate asynchronous I/O.

Can you pls suggest me what value could be chosen for DBWR_IO_SLAVES to gain optimum performance ?

The general recommendation is: set the value to 2, if the I/O activity is expected to be moderate. Set it to 4, if you expect a lot of I/O activity. Simulating asynchronous I/O behavior is not free. So, deployment of I/O slaves should be done carefully. I cannot stress this point enough.
