I've seen people asking the same question on many forums, but no answer so far.

I installed Oracle9i Database(Standard Edition)and I created a database with Database Configuration Assistant.
Then I instaled Oracle9i Developer Suite and now I can't launch Database Configuration Assistant or Enterprise Manager Configuration Assistant anymore. Everything else seems to be running OK.

Please help me, I already uninstalled and installed everything again, and I got the same result: I can only launch DCA before I install DSuite.

Thanks a lot.

Have you reset your Oracle_home afterwards? If you install IDS, Oracle will switch to the IDS Oracle Home. There should be an Oracle Home Selector in your start menu. Let it point to the correct home (the one of your database) and retry.

I tried the following paths in the Home Selector:
f:\oracle\ora90
f:\oracle\ora90\bin
f:\oracle\oradata\<db_name>
and I still can't launch them.

Hi,

If you can afford uninstall oracle and reinstall it then i would suggest :-

1. Uninstall all the installed products using universal installer.

2. Re-boot the machine and go to your oracle_home and remove the oracle folder.

3. Go to the registry using regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE--SOFTWARE--ORACLE folder and remove it.

4. This will clean your oracle installation.

5. Re-install the oracle choosing the correct oracle_home while installation.

6. After installation check whether DBCA and EMC are working fine.

7. Install the required tools or suites you require selecting correct oracle_home.

If you face any problem revert back.

HTH

Milind.
