We are running Oracle 9.2.01 and last night we encountered this error and Oracle shutdown. Does anyone have an idea of what this is?

ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17175], [255], [], [], [], [], [], []

Contact oracle support. Ora-0600 errors are best handled there.
And look at oracle alert_sid.log. There should be a trc file created alongwith this message. Post the contents.

Metalink has a ORA-600/ORA-7445 Troubleshooter where you can submit the first argument of the ORA-600 error message(17175 in your case), or the content of a trace file dump. You'll have a full description of the problem, along with suggestions, bugs and notes related.
Sometimes this information is useful to solve the problem on your own,(at least gives you an idea of what's going on) but as posted above, you should consider call Oracle support.
