Are all GL Balances accounted for on GL_JE_LINES? [message #157000]

Hi all;
I'm trying to find out whether it's possible to drill down from ANY GL balance and find the individual transaction lines on GL_JE_LINES.
ie are all journals posted on GL_JE_LINES and then loaded onto the GL_BALANCES table, or is that not necessarily true?

If you key data at Journal & Post Journal
Account Amount is calculate to table GL Balance at Field "PERIOD_NET_DR" (Entry Amount DR), Field "PERIOD_NET_CR" (Entry Amount CR)

So I should see ALL tranactions ever entered in that GL_JE_LINES table? All modules post their journals into that table first?

If Post journal -- Data to 3 TABLES
GL_JE_BATCHS --- Field : NAME (BATCH NAME),JE_BATCH_ID Link for TABLE : GL_JE_HEADER
GL_JE_HEADER --- Field : NAME (Journal Name), JE_HEADER_ID Link for TABLE : GL_JE_HEADER
GL_JE_LINE --- Field : CODE_COMBINATION_ID (Account Code), ENTERED_DR (Key in DR Amount), ENTERED_CR (Key in CR Amount),PERIOD_NAME

It is my understanding that the posting process takes valid journals and updates the GL_BALANCES (by changing the appropriate period amount) and GL_JE_LINES (with the complete transaction).

If you want to find out more about what happens at the table and row level, try taking a look at the eTRMs which usually provide a good insight. They can be found on MetaLink, on the Knowledge tab, by scrolling down and looking at the left hand side for the box called Online Documentation.
