hello
i have oracle9i server on win 2000,
the os crash and windows never starts ,
i have a cold datatabse file including control files , redo log files and the parameter file.

i dont have any access to the old server ..
please how can i proceed after installing win2000 on a new server.

you must start from the pfile of ur database.
if u don't have the pfile then u must create it and then
issue
startup pfile ='......' (its the path of pfile)

thx for immediate reply
plz some details ,
do i need to create a new database on the new server,than startup this database with the parameter file of the old crashed one ,
i guess i have also to edit the parameter file of the old database to reflect the location of the copied datafiles on the new server..
