why does 802.11b stations have only 11 channels?

This is what I understood:
In the US, FCC has stipulated that only channels 1 to 11 may be used, in Japan only channel 14 is ratified and Spain has only channels 10 to 14. It is a localized standard, learn to live with it Wink.

Hi all,
another doubt about 802.11b...

There is 64bit WEP encryption and 128bit encryption.But in 64bit encryption we provide a 10digit key.How does these 10digits count upto 64bits?
