Hi
i am new here and i have one maybe silly question. I have to schedule backup of rman catalogue and i saw that previous dba has made backup of rman catalogue with rman extension. So, my question is how can i make backup of RMAN database by using RMAN it self? Sounds to me like there will be endless loop involved or am i wrong?
cheers

do a full database export.

It is a different case. ( above assumed case is a fairly static RMANDB.).
Here, the RMANDB / Catalog database is almost like a transactional database ( say 100 backups spanning through 24 hours).
Then i would consider RMAN backup on RMANDB.
