Hi
I want to ask something related to sga_max_size...I have Oracle9i on Linux(RHEL 3)-32 bit m/c ,RAM is 1 GB and Hard Disk is of 73 GB..I want to have an sga size of around 3.2 GB...Is it possible to have this much of SGA size if i use the swap space of 10GB..would Oracle use this Swap Space ...or can we do it by lowering the mapped_address...
Please do tell me in detail..and procedure also..
I hav one cofusion also..is it possible to increase the size of Parameters like shared pool and Buffer Cache if already set sga_max_size is lower the the sum of all the parameters ..i mean would it automatically increase..
Please reply soon..
Its Urgent..
Thanks in advance
regards

I am not sure about it, but i will check it.

No its not, the sum of SGA components can never exceed the value of sga_max_size.

Why do you want an sga of 3.2 gb with RAM of only 1 GB? 3.2 is incedibly high for an SGA, and I would guess way too high for your system. You don't want to have the OS swapping RAM to disk, very slow.
