i am facing one problem- whenever i am trying to desc a table for the first time it works and then if i put a /-it give nothing in your memory tpo run-fine. but after this again
if i use desc < table> it gives me end of file communication.
amazingly this is happening with client side working but when i am trying to connect remotely to the server and doing this- there is no problem.

proper network connection is not present between client machine and Database server machine .... end of communication means network is not responding to that client application.. If you will restart client application/new session of *SQLPlus which is conneting to DB then you can work with it.

Hi,

I had same problem regarding end of file communication channel.
I had windows 2000 server with oracle 8.1.5
But I cann't connect from server side also.
When I was trying to connect from sql plus, at that time communication channel error arise.
I don't know why this happen.

Bye...
